After graduation, I went directly to UCLA where I joined the Sigma Nu Fraternity and jumped headlong into the life of a college student. I met my wife, Susanne at UCLA and together with a Musical Group called the Lively Set won the Spring Sing in 1964 at The Hollywood Bowl..The president of Capitol Records was one of the Judges that night and signed us to a record contract..in Oct. of 1965 we were the opening Act at The Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas for Rowan & Martin (from Laugh-In)...for the next 10 years we Performed in Las Vegas, lake Tahoe, Reno and Miami Beach as Opening Act for Don Rickles,Smothers Brothers,B.B. King, Eddie Albert,Robert Goulet,Vic Damone and many others...in 1966 we were regulars for 13 weeks on The Kraft Music Hall starring John Davidson with "unkown" comedians, George Carlin, Flip Wilson and Richie Pryor...also in the 60's appeared on The Dean Martin Show, Lawrence-a-Welka and Shivaree with Sonny & Cher. In the 70's we sang at alot of State Fairs, Disneland/World and Commercials:Pepsi,Standard Oil,Mazda,Wrigley's Spearment Gum and would you believe I sang The Bobs Big Boy Commercials for over 10 years! In 1976 we got the Gold-ring with our Grammy Nominated recording of The Theme from HAPPY DAYS(under the name PRATT & McCLAIN)we were on Merv Griffin,Mike Douglas,Dinah Shore...Mid-night Special and American Bandstand with Dick Clark.... In the 80's it all caught up with me as a cocaine addiction ALMOST took my life, my wife and my house...to save all that, I left the Entertainment business and lived out some very HAPPY DAYS for over 10 years as a High School teacher at Bishop Alemany H.S....in the mid 90's I returned to the Ent. world as a Producer at Sonrise Records...a one hour, Friday radio Talk-show HAPPY DAYS WITH JERRY & SUSANNE and a book: HAPPY DAYS & DARK NIGHTS winning a Focus on The Family award...Susanne and I sharing our American dream turned nightmare..turned miracle..How God healed our marriage!..In the 2000's Happy Days returns to prime-time on Nick at Nite & TV Land and my record has been re-released on over 50 greatest hits CD's from Japan to Europe, Australia. North & South America....and by the way who, in our class, is Richie Cunningham or The Fonz????
